Ask any child what they want to see in a telescope
and "SATURN!!" will be the answer. The weekend of June 3-5th is the hightlight of our Saturn Spotting
program, but observe Saturn whenever you can! Get out with your scope and wow the public with views of Saturn and
its rings.
Don’t forget to look for the shadow of the rings on Saturn’s
body which is a wonderful dark shadow underneath the ring system OR can be – based on the angel, above the ring system. Where will that shadow be this year??
Want to know where Saturn’s moons will be – check out Sky and Telescope’s link to Saturn’s moon calculator so you will know who is who out there. For fun print out the Saturn log sheets where you can draw the ring system of Saturn.
MAKE SURE to show the Cassini
division and a few of the moons.
